ChiSox slugger Quentin has broken wrist
American League home run leader Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist, and the Chicago White Sox left fielder will have surgery Monday that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Quentin was removed from the lineup before Tuesday's game because of what the White Sox described then as a sore right forearm, and he hasn't played since.
 
Orioles' Trembley to return in 2009
Dave Trembley will get another chance to coax a winning season out of the Baltimore Orioles in 2009. The Orioles announced Friday that they will bring Trembley back next season, exercising an option that was the contract he signed last year. The club also added a team option for 2010. Rangers All-Star Kinsler out for season
Texas Rangers All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler will have season-ending surgery to repair a sports hernia. Kinsler last played Aug. 17, and an MRI the following day revealed the injury. Kinsler was hopeful of avoiding surgery and possibly playing again this season, but he remains sore and the Rangers said Friday he will have surgery next week.
 
Brewers sign veteran 3B Lamb
Third baseman Mike Lamb was signed Friday by the Milwaukee Brewers, who hoped to bolster their roster for the final month of the season. A nine-year veteran who has played for Texas, Houston and Minnesota, Lamb hit .233 with one homer and 32 RBIs in 81 games with the Twins this year. He was released Thursday after being designated for assignment, and will not be eligible for Milwaukee's postseason...
 
Cubs' Zambrano has shoulder tendinitis
Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano has right rotator cuff tendinitis and inflammation, an MRI confirmed Thursday, a potential obstacle to Chicago's chances of winning the World Series for the first time in a century. Zambrano received a shot of anti-inflammatory medication and hopes to return to the rotation next week.
