Hey Linux users: anybody here tried Centos?
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:49:41 am »
I'm tried of the problems I'm having with the trial versions of PClinuxos, I didn't care for the spring release of Mandriva or U(k)buntu. SO I'm thinking of trying Centos, which for those who don't know is a clone of Red Hat linux. (which isn't free anymore). SO I'm debating between Centos and Fedora(Red Hats free version). What I want is stability. And to be able to load NVIDIA drivers, cedega, flash/java and play DVD's. Comments, suggestions?

Does fedora still try to wipe the entire drive, like 1 and 2 did? I haven't followed it so I don't know. Also how hard is it to setup NVIDIA 3d drivers, I remember hearing that was troublesome early on also.

Side note---> It appears that centos is more of a server OS than a home desktop.

So now it looks like choosing between Debian, fedora and opensuse (say isn't so). Yes arch and gentoo are good, but I'm not that advanced  :uhh
