 War watching Mr. Irish getting blazed for 7 runs in 2 innings...  For an 0-3 record with an ERA the Rays wouldnt even take...... But he made the right choice not taking millions and going in the NFL's first round... But he is playing Single A ball in daytona.....

before he signed with the cubs, he was ranked as the number 2-3 receiver.....which would put him 1st or early 2nd round.....

BTW- He signed a 5 year, $10 mil contract to play baseball with an option for years 6 and 7 that bring the contract to 16.5 million.  The deal also included a $2.5 mil signing bonus.

Not too bad for a guy who loves to play baseball more than he loves to play football.

Opting to pass up a chance at the NFL, Samardzija on Friday signed a five-year contract with the Chicago Cubs.

ESPN 1000 in Chicago is reporting Samardzija's deal to be worth $10 million, including a $2.5 million signing bonus. According to the report, the Cubs have options for a sixth and seventh year.

Just another point is that prior to that game he had 3.83 ERA so you are really judging him based off of one bad game.  He just has not thrown enough innings for anyone to really say what kind of player he will be.  Until we know that you can't determine if he made a mistake.
