It's only like a year old, has Vista.
Worked fine until recently, but now it shuts off at random times and will often times shut down as soon as I start it up...

What can I do about this?
Restore to previous day? Make sure that I kept the box that it came in?
I have limited funds to repair it, so any help you can give me will be appreciated.

what is the make and model?

Check the event viewier for errors

type the full word 'event viewer in the Start Search dialog box and then press enter.

had a similar problem with an old IBM t60. It was a hardware issue, not a vista issue, as I re-installed XP and it still did it. BUT, update all drivers and such. Also, have you added any new hardware?
