Just checked out ESPN's final roster for the All Star game and noticed that neither Clemente nor Timlin made the roster.  From a pitching standpoint, these two guys are the only reason why Boston is in 1st place.  Snub, or is Francona just using his spot to rest his pitchers?  ;)

I saw an interview with Francona on Baseball Tonight and his final decision came down to picking between Bartolo Colon and Matt Clement.  He ended up picking Colon.  Hopefully for him this doesn't blow up in his face by leaving his own guy off the roster.

Agreed...especiallly since there's this small problem that Clemente is not going to get the $250 gr that was in his contract if he made the All Star team... Dude is pissed...   :bananbang

Damn, I didn't realize that dude had a $250k clause in his contract if he made the All Star team.  Surely John Henry didn't go cheapskate and force his manager to make that decision to save a buck or two.  Not a good thing to do with your own player.

Well now it'd be nice if both Rogers and Halladay miss the game, cuz then aside from Clement, which he's already said will take the place if any vacancy arises, maybe Bondo gets in the other spot.

But this is still dependent on Rogers making the right decision.

Agreed. Rogers isn't exactly rushing to turn down the $50gr for getting on the team though.  referee1

Very true.

And now word is Halladay is out for a month with a broken leg.  Clement is all-but officially in.

C'mon Kenny...

Ok, with the All-Star game being played on Tuesday, here are my 25 man roster choices for the All-Star game.? Although I disagree with the current format of having at least one player from each team represented, I'm going to make my selections based on this same criteria.

NATIONAL LEAGUE
(Starters)
C - Paul LoDuca [FLA]
1B - Derrek Lee [CHC]
2B - Porn Stache Kent [LAD]
3B - Morgan Ensberg [HOU]
SS - Omar Vizquel [SF]
LF - Miguel Cabrera [FLA]
CF - Andruw Jones [ATL]
RF - Bobby Abreu [PHI]
DH - Albert Pujols [STL]
P - Pedro Martinez [NYM]
(Reserves)
C - Ramon Hernandez [SD]
IF - Nick Johnson [WAS]
IF - Todd Helton [COL]
IF - Aramis Ramirez [CHC]
IF - Felipe Lopez [CIN]
OF - Moises Alou [SF]
OF - Jason Bay [PIT]
OF - Carlos Lee [MIL]
SP - Roger Clemens [HOU]
SP - Dontrelle Willis [FLA]
SP - Chris Carpenter [STL]
SP - Brandon Webb [ARI]
RP - Chad Cordero [WAS]
RP - Billy Wagner [PHI]
RP - Jason Isringhausen [STL]

AMERICAN LEAGUE
(Starters)
C - Jason Varitek [BOS]
1B - Mark Teixiera [TEX]
2B - Brian Roberts [BAL]
3B - Alex Rodriguez [NYY]
SS - Miguel Tejada [BAL]
LF - Hideki Matsui [NYY]
CF - Johnny Damon [BOS]
RF - Vladimir Guerrero [LAA]
DH - David Ortiz [BOS]
P - Roy Halladay [TOR]
(Reserves)
C - Joe Mauer [MIN] Pudge Rodriguez [DET]
IF - Pronk Hafner [CLE]
IF - Alfonso Soriano [TEX]
IF - Michael Young [TEX]
OF - Gary Sheffield [NYY]
OF - Carl Crawford [TB]
OF - Emil Brown [KC]
SP - Kenny Rogers [TEX]
SP - Mark Buehrle [CWS]
SP - Jon Garland [CWS]
SP - Johan Santana [MIN]
RP - Joe Nathan [MIN]
RP - Eddie Guardado [SEA]
RP - Mariano Rivera [NYY]
RP - Justin Duchscherer [OAK]

I'm sure there are guys that I have left off my list unintentionally.? Part of that is from the difficulty of having to mix in players from crappy teams like Kansas City and Colorado.

Yeah you did leave guys off; you didn't include a single Tiger.

You're right, that was an oversight on my part.  To keep with format, I scratched off Joe Mauer as reserve catcher and put Pudge Rodriguez in his place.  Finding a Tiger that was All-Star caliber was a whole hell of a lot easier than finding one from the Royals.  It was a stretch for me to put Emil Brown on there, who is playing his first season in the majors since 2001.  Damn, the Royals suck.

No joke, I thought Sweeney would be a boost when I signed him in May for fantasy, but nooooo, instead he goes a month between jacks and goes on the DL.

I saw on the bottom line that Rogers will go to the game.  fvckin jerkweed...Bondo should be there instead.

Well, it looks as if things will work out after all for M. Clement.  Nice to see him get in, he's definitely had a season worthy of being an All-Star.
