The Official 2011 Stucknut NFL Mock Draft Thread

With the first pick, the Carolina Panthers select:

QB, Auburn Tigers, Cam Newton.

The Panthers have no 2nd round pick, so this pick has to be a slam-dunk pick. They also have no QB's on the roster that invoke any fear into opposing defenses. Yeah, they took Jimmy Claussen last year, but he's not a good NFL-quality QB. He's back-up material at best who was overrated coming out of college because of where he went to school and his last name. Newton is a diamond-in-the-rough player who can be molded and brought up slowly on a team that has 2 good RB's in Deangelo and Stewart, a good WR in Steve Smith and now a serviceable TE in Shockey.

There will be some arguments that Marcell Dareus should be the pick (he's passed Nick Fairly in the rankings at DT), or Bowers should be the pick because they need a pass rusher in Carolina. But you don't pick either of those guys over a possible franchise QB.

Next up: Denver Broncos

1. Carolina - QB Cam Newton
2. Denver -
3. Buffalo -
4. Cincinatti -
5. Arizona -

Sound reasoning, Santo.

If you're right, then with the 2nd pick, the Denver Broncos will no doubt select:

DE, Clemson Tigers, Da'Quan Bowers

Size, strength, smarts, everything a weakened Broncos D-Line needs in order to replenish itself.  Dude is going to be a very good edge rusher at the next level, and could be the second coming of another #2 overall pick, Julius Peppers if he manages his technique.  But the talent is obvious and his deficiencies, tho minimal, are teachable at the NFL level.

Frankly, any of the D-Line prospects are a great pick here, and there's really no way Denver can go wrong.  Fairly or Dareus would be great (my money would be on Dareus if Carolina swings back around and snags Bowers instead of Newton in the end).

Next pick:  Buffalo Bills

1. Carolina - QB Cam Newton
2. Denver - DE Da'Quan Bowers
3. Buffalo -
4. Cincinatti -
5. Arizona -

With both QB's off the board Cincy could go a few ways here, along with QB, Safety is a need. Also any help on the O-line. But with no OT or Guards worth a top 5 pick this year, Cincy takes-

WR- Aj Green UGA

With T.O. and Ocho on their way out Green partners up with Jerome Simpson, Jordan Shipley, and Jermaine Gersham. Cincy now has a solid WR/TE core......if only they had a QB.
