Naw...catch and release. Anything over 2.5-3 lbs are kinda nasty to eat. Plus like to leave the bigger ones in lake to breed.

Bad news for that smallie, he has been out of the water long enough his skin is dried out and clammy. You might have well have cleaned it. If you keep a fish out of the water longer than you can hold your breath he will die anyway.  referee1

fvck that shit, we keep them out of the water so they stop breathing, then use them as bait for the seals that wander by.

Skin was not dry....it was out for less than 20 seconds. It swam away just fine and if it died, which I doubt, there's snapping turtles around that would have enjoyed the carcass. Thanks for your concern there Norman.

What norm doesnt understand is his fish die not from being out of the water so long but because he fvcks their mouths before throwing them back or into the live well.

20 seconds the fish is fine, anything over about a minute is critical. Even if it swims away doesn't mean it wont die next few days. Also BMI  :lol I don't always fvck their mouths, one like this smallie has a little to much fite in them for decent head.  :lol
