If this increases the chances of more wardrobe malfunctions, I'm all for it. A Katie Perry malfunction would get me to watch that stupid shit.  :banana

I know that the NFL is king but, this is taking it a bit to far. I'm sure Coldplay, Rhianna, Katy and her twins would be just fine by not having to pay to perform @ the SB. the NFL has a concussion

I'd watch Katy Perry on mute.

You'd have to pay me to watch the others.

There's a lot more money to be made from the half time show but the NFL wants cash up front. If the NFL had the patience, they could incorporate publishing rights or even split the rights with the artist. Take an artist like Perry or Rhianna, pay for the producer and the A&R out of pocket and corner the rights to a new song that would be debuted at the Super Bowl half time. 50% of a shittay hit pop song > anything an artist will pay up front.

Yeah but in that case the artist would just debut a bunch of B-side bullshit they've been sitting on for years. No artist is going to play new stuff in front of billions on the biggest stage of their lives, so they would never agree to that.

I'm not saying B-side, I'm talking hiring the best producers and collaborators on the NFLs dime. Debut that song at half time. Release the single, make a video.

I'm not sure they'd take that risk on the massive stage. There's huge upside, but also a shitton of people who will turn off the TV if they aren't playing top-40 stuff that got them there.
