2015-16 Potential Debate Resolutions
« on: June 22, 2015, 01:35:42 pm »
It's always interesting to see the direction they are headed with these.  Had several people ask me what resolutions look like, here's your answer:   :banana

Corporations ought to value their responsibility to shareholders over the public interest when the two conflict.

Countries ought to prohibit the production of nuclear power.

Democracies ought to incorporate provisions for legal secession into their national constitutions

Immigration ought to be recognized as a human right.

In the United States, campaigns that support candidates for public office ought to be financed exclusively by public funds.

In the United States criminal justice system, jury nullification ought to be used in the face of perceived injustice.

In the United States, private ownership of handguns ought to be banned.

The privatization of civil services undermines democracy.

The United States ought to adopt carbon pricing.

The United States ought to promote democracy in the Middle East.

No, believe it or not vIQ, there are some intellectuals here at Stucknut.  Back in the day we used to trade ideas on political topics from time to time.

Debaters have to argue both sides, which is why they have to learn so much about said topics.

You're going to have to ask vIQ and Tudo, they are pretty much the only idiots who think all debate resolutions have "right" or "wrong" answers.
