Vehicle Question For The Gearheads
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:34:33 am »
Check engine light comes on. Did standard checks....gas cap, air filter.....etc.

Mechanic runs the code...EVAP code comes up. Solenoid and filter changed. Light comes back on month later....changing entire system now and relocating above tranny. (Huh, huh...huh. I said tranny)

Is there a way to override this useless POS if it happens again? All this is currently covered under extended warranty but plan on keeping truck for a while. Ideas?

Easy Fix.

1. Precut a piece of balkc electrical tape to fit over the affected light on your dash.

2. Palce said tape over affected light on your dash.

3 Please send $19.95 or the Candaddian equilvalent to JStab.

(PM Me for the addy)

EDIT: if you are driving on the wrong side of the car, like so many of you foreigners do, you must turn said piece of electrical tape upside down before applying.

What make and model? As simple as this sounds, disconnect your power source for a minute (battery). A lot of the newer models will show an inactive code even after an active one is repaired. Is the code if flashes show to be active one?

Yes, you can always reset your check engine light.  Just depends on the make and model of the car on how you reset it.

I (may or may not have) burnt out the bulb by adding extra amps to it. Sold on craigslist that much faster and didn't have to replace both O2 sensors. If I did do that than that would have been fraud so I guess I really didn't do that. Besides, pain in the ass to pull dash apart on wifes old mini van and what kind of poor broke ass fvck would do that to save $200?  :blush
