Worst moments in the CBS Rome era
« on: October 27, 2015, 12:49:45 am »
What are some moments that have signified the decline of our favorite show?

"Hey diddle diddle Ray Rice up the middle" - Rome was soooo amused by this and thought it was hilarious.

Bryce Harper "clown question bro" montage. - This bit flopped

Mark Cuban "I hope they (The Lakers) suck forever" sound clip - This flopped even harder

Rhyming "4-6-3" (as in a 4 6 3 double play) with "O-M-G" in a take

Jim Harbaugh "gobble gobble turkey"

"Dantalica" from today's show

Dear god that was awful. I listened to the podcasts at work back then, on a small shuffle IPOD that didn't have a fast forward option. And it was so damn annoying that I just turned the sound off and waited 10 minutes.   Then during the "best of" show... same damn thing.   Unfunniest thing ever.

Yeah, that wasn't one of Rome's better takes.  Off hand one was and I say this not because the take was bad but it was currently someone else bit.  It was Romey's take on MMA guy where he ran off a ton of MMA wars like Joaquin does.  Another one was Romey's rap, it had something to do with Tim Duncan or the SPurs I think but it was pretty brutal.

Haha, I thought it was pretty funny today Rome just happened to reset the gobble gobble turkey take to talk about 'Harbaugh's If worms had machine guns...' quote.

I know, but they were BAD bad. Meaning, they could have done irreparable harm to the show.

Does he still desperately try to chase the "Gimme back my son" bit, repeating stuff 100 times?  Talk about jumping the shark. The ironic thing is, the more he tries it, the more unlistenable it gets... with ZERO chance that it eventually gets funny again (which is the point of the bit). It's just "turn the station" bad. When a soundbyte gets repeated 5+ times, it's like "ok, i'll tune back in 5 -10 minutes."

Good point. I think he is chasing the magic of past show moments like gimmie back my son, OORF, rachel sounding like nascar etc.
He kept replaying Cuban saying "I hope they suck forever" in hopes that it would somehow become funny, but it didnt work
