Mostly this. Greinke is 32 and after a season like that it's a perfect time to opt out of 3 years/71 mil knowing full well he can get that same amount per season but over a 6+ year contract.

Plus no one really wants to stick with such a dogshit franchise like the Dodgers.  ;)

Why would you be shocked.  After a career year is the perfect time to opt out and collect a huge raise.

Because he can stay in L.A. and when multiple Championships and make 10 his baseball revenue over the years in endorsements etc. into his retirement years  :drink

Well so far LA has zero championships so multiple wins seems like a stretch.

That said he still do all of that and get a nice new $200M contract like Max Scherzer got. 

I don't see him making $2B in endorsements so your math may be off.
