Charles Barkley and The Jungle
« on: November 30, 2015, 12:25:52 pm »
Hi- New to the forum.  I really enjoyed when the Chuckster would come on and talk with Romey.  I've noticed the last couple years he hasn't been on.  Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

Good catch. Sir Charles always tells it like it is and niw that the NBA is in full swing maybe he'll be back on.

I'm not a big hoops fan but Barkley is a good chat about anything.

As far as I know Rome and Chuck are still ok.  Longtime listeners will know that for the longest time, Barkley wanted nothing to do with Rome.  Their paths crossed (I believe at a restaurant in Vegas), they cleared the air, and then Barkley was on all the time.  Rome even had at least one interview with Chuck that bridged into a second segment.

It does seem like it's been awhile since he's been on.  I know Rome was kinda critical of some of his comments about the Adrian Peterson beating his kid ordeal.  If that was the source of a fallout, it would be due to some incredibly thin skin on Chuck's part.  I'd find that hard to believe.  I imagine he'll be back on again in the next month or two.

Rome was clearly disturbed about what Barkley said about how parents spank their kids in the South. But I don't think he'd go so far as to not have him on the show anymore.

Afterall controversy and disagreement make for good radio and Rome is all about the Benjamins. There's a clip of that interview on Youtube.

I definitely don't think it would be Rome's decision to not have him on.  I think it would be more that he pissed off Chuck.  Rome has some pretty garbage guests to fill time.  I think he'd take anyone relevant and interesting, whether Rome likes or agrees with him or not.  Generally it's the prospective interviewees who choose not to go on the show.

I'd have to agree that Barkley would be the one pissed off. He was trying to get his point across that spanking kids in the South is common but Rome wasn't having any of it.

Roam was better X+Y years ago.

His schtick grew tired back about the time Travis Rodgers was out as producer.

This website is pretty much the only thing he has going for him anymoar.
