UFC 194

Every once in awhile a fight card comes up that looks great on paper and you just hope it delivers. This main card looks amazing.

Holloway vs Stephens

If Stevens can avoid a submission he can certainly win by KO. Would be better chance for him if it was 5 rounds
Holloway by decision

Maia vs Nelson

This should be a good ground battle. barring a freak punch, kick or injury this will go to a decision....possibly even a draw.
Maia by decison

Souza vs Romero

The only thing that's going to stop Souza from submitting Romero is a lucky punch or if Romero takes him down and lays on him for 3 rounds. Don't see either happening.
Souza by submission Rd 2

Weidman vs Rockhold

2 great fighters. Tough call.
Weidman by decision

Aldo vs McGregor

We'll be at the bar watching this one for sure. Pretty decent breakdown but I disagree on a few.

My picks:

Stephens by decision

Maia by sub in 2nd rd

Sousa by sub in 1st round

Rockhold by split decision

McGregor by unanimous decision

I want to say that McGregor hasn't beaten anybody.  Who has he beat?  An out of shape Chad Mendes.  Whoop de doo.    I think he will be exposed as more hype than action, but we'll see.

That was an insane main event. Glad we decided to just go to the bar and not buy it though. Missed the Holloway/Stephens fight but got there in time to see the rest.

Maia's issues with the rankings are totally legit.

Romero and his crew are a bunch of hacks. They tried the pouring water trick to buy him more time in between rounds but ref and commision members were all over it. Was hoping Souza would get the nod.

Rockhold is the real deal.

What can you say about Mystic Mick...dude says what he'll do and does it.

"Like a young man coming in for a qvuickie, I feel so unsatisfied."

I know it's not luck that made McGregor win, and he earned the title...but there is SOME luck involved when you catch a guy like that.  After all, Matt Serra caught GSP like that once, then GSP came back a few months later and destroyed him.  Junior Dos Santos caught Cain Velasquez like that once too, and Cain subsequently came back and destroyed him, twice I think.

I would've liked to see McGregor beat Aldo the way Holm beat Rousey or Rockhold beat Weidman - to where there's no doubt as to who was better that night.  A 13-second fight that ends in a one-punch KO doesn't really prove that.

That's where boxing gives you the opportunity to get back up, take a count, and keep fighting.  Reminds me of Pacquiao-Marquez 1, where Manny dropped Marquez thrice in the 1st round, but then Marquez gathered himself and over the course of the next 9 rounds fought his way to a draw.

Word has it that the fight this weekend between Dos Anjos and Cerrone will probably determine what path McGregor goes from here. Dos Anjos retains and Conor will likely face Frankie Edgar at Featherweight.

If Cerrone beats Dos Anjos then Conor will likely move up to Lightweight but not vacate the Featherweight title.

Even though Cerrone is red hot I don't see him beating Dos Anjos. Pretty interesting card though for free with Junior Dos Santos vs Overeem and Michael Johnson vs Nate Diaz.

Yea McGregor's goal all along was to go after the featherweight belt as that's his natural weight class. He was slick to go the Featherweight route to gain his notoriety. Nothing he does is unplanned.(Nice double negative huh?)  :uhh.  You get what I mean.
