Might can make a case for Trevor Hoffman as well. 601 is a helluva lot of saves.  But Eckstein and Ausmus? C'mon man.  :lol

Only 1st ballot this year is Griffey Jr.

I think Hoffman will eventually get in but not this year. The only other player to get in this year is Piazza. Bagwell will be right on the line and Raines will get into the 60s.

Griffey for sure.  He should be on 100% of the ballots.

Piazza will be close.

Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, and Curt Schilling will probably fall short.

I'm a Lee Smith fan.  He was the dominant closer on my favorite team when I started watching baseball.  But I don't think he'll be that close.

Griffey and Piazza are the only two.

There were three people who did not vote for Griffey.  They should lose their right to vote.

Meh. I don't agree with that. 99.3% is the highest in HOF history for a first ballot.
Think about all the more deserving first timers that didn't get that high of a percentage.

It's an extremely high percentage.   But when you look at the eligible list, Griffey is by far and away the top talent on the list.  Did those three just not vote for anybody?

Actually,  it could be that because they were limited to only 10 votes, they used the votes on somebody else because they knew Griffey was a shoe in.  I'd at least be curious to hear their rationale

I believe there a few writers that believe no one should be unanimous and leave off obvious candidates for this reason. I think griff got hit with that.

Just stupid but people have their grudges and or beliefs.

Yes and those petty grudges keep worthy former players from the accolades that many fans believe they deserve.

Honestly given more get in than I think should get in I would not subscribe to your news letter.

You have a point ther Porch but the fact that a bunch of fat writers who are merely waiting for their next free ballpark buffet ar the ones who decide the HOF worthy is a joke.

So who should decide?

Players.  Yeah I am sure that favoritism and grudges wouldn't play into this?

Fans - have you seen who we vote into all star games.

So who should do the voting and will it really be any better?

There just isn't a great way to vote and as flawed as they are the writers may be the best group to do so.

I agree 100% that fans should not vote. But why not a combination of people that actually played the game at the MLB level? Like former players and managers in tv doing commentary or analysis who can be impartial.

Owners, managers and general managers. Some combination but not just one group. Do you honestly feel that only one group should be responsible for HOF voting. No offense but that's crazy.
