What would actually get someone re-elected?
« on: March 21, 2016, 08:24:27 am »
Despite what happens in November for L'Amuricah and thinking out of the box regarding re-election whether it be at the state or federal level...

If an elected official was able to efficiently reduce the actual numbers of positions within the government and re-allocate those wages/funds back into the state and federal economies, wouldn't that be a huge step towards re-election?

If downsizing is good enough for big business, it has to be good enough for the government.

Instead of re-allocating the savings I would prefer that they cut taxes.

I assume that would be a natural trickle down.

That's the problem w/'Murica; the gubmint and its many regulations have gotten so big that it requires those positions.  The politicians are afraid to even go into that arena of cutting because of the pork for their various state/district projects.  Oink oink....

How about re-allocation those tax dollars to pay down the 19 trillion dollar debt?

:lol    It's "tax refund season."

I listen to people talking about what they are going to do with their tax refunds.

Bitch I write a check on April 15th.

No new rims here.     Lower taxes.   That would suit me just fine.

When you eliminate positions, you are taking money out of the economy,  so technically it would be a wash.  You just created more unemployed people.  The government needs to eliminate by attrition, not replacing every head count who retires or leaves.

Pretty sure political employees could find jobs elsewhere. Eliminating inflated government salaries would not be a wash.

That's a pretty faulty assumption to make.  Government employees are definitely NOT on the top of anybody's hiring list, especially when you have a thousand other qualified candidates applying for jobs.

To Dog's point dropping elected officials' jobs will eliminate many more jobs underneath them and those people are hung out to dry leading to more employment.

So ditch the politician and take their huge salary and train the pee ons below them for new jobs.
