"JT The Brick is better than me or Jim Rome" - Jay Mohr
« on: May 02, 2016, 03:28:50 pm »
Jj was talking about how JT parlayed a smackoff into his career and said JT is better than Rome or even JJ himself.

how come JT doesn't have his own fan site?

I like JT a lot... but you have to be in the mood for hardcore sports talk.
The day after an NFL sunday is really good for JT

with most fox hosts i'd buy this but JJ credits Rome all the time for him having this gig.  in fact I bet JJ's bosses get pissed that he mentions Rome so much

Premiere Radio Networks is owned by Fox, but Rome already built up his affiliates long before. When Jay took over his time slot, they shopped it to the Fox networks. Or something like that. I'm sure jay jay will correct this someday.

Only 10% of iheartMedia Inc is owned by insiders who control 5% or more of the voting stock in IHRT.  ClearChannel spun off Premiere when they morphed into iHeart.  So I don't think News Corp has much of a financial interest in IHRT.  But they do use them as a "go-to" provider of radio content, and have for years, like JimLame, Rush Limpbaull and Dr. Laura Sluttier for their affiliates.  In fact, there was a brief time when ClearChannel was in such disarray, their national sports talk lineup consisted of the Loose Cannons (Steve Hartman, Mychal Thompson and Vic the Brick) + Petros and Money, because they were all local to KLAC am 570 in SoCal.

As for Jayjay pimping JT, meh, whatever.  JT parlayed his brief time as a caller into a radio career.  It's not like either JJ or JT were poor before they got their gigs.  JT was a stock broker and JJ still has his acting gigs.  OK, maybe they're not filthy rich, but I'd guess they can pay the bills with plenty to spare.  The only knock on JT I ever heard is that paid Raider Mike, William "The Day After," and Dave the Mayor to call his show.  Can't confirm that.

Now, what happened to the radio careers of Phat Gino, Phone Slap, and some of the others?  Is the Cablinasian still around? T-Rodge (I hope so).  Almost anything is better than Arnie Spaniel, Dwayne ForReal, and the Fatulous Sports Babe.

Nothing wrong with that.    :rome should do that

It doesn't even have to be much -500 bucks to make 8 good calls a year or something?...When he did that Guns n Roses tickets thing, things got interesting on the phones those 2 weeks & it made for a better show, for what amounts to peanuts being spent by the company.

Since JayJay's talking out his backside about half the time, it's fitting that in this case he's exactly 50% correct.
