LeBron vs MJ
« on: May 14, 2018, 01:02:36 pm »
Help me settle the bet at work...
LeBron is the best player ever.

Statistics prove it. Number of rings? Doesn't quite prove it.
People underestimate the power of just making it to the championships.. Nobody wanted to play the Buffalo Bills back in the day..
4 super bowl appearances so they must have sucked. As an example..
LeBron has made 7 and won 3.
If you have 4 silver medals, that's more than 1 or 2 gold.
And LeBron has a few more good years left.. He's not done yet. He's doing superhuman feats still in a totally changed era.

The world may be ending here, but I agree with JD.  LeBron is the GOAT.

I think that if you made this bet with a coworker, and then you had to log onto stucknut.com for help in settling the bet, then you're probably a loser with not a lot of direction in life.

I don't like the ring argument, although Robert Horry with 7 rings is better than both MJ and LeBron  :uhh

I'm leaning LeBron too.  It's a team game.  MJ had good teammates.  LeBrons doing it by himself.

I think Abdul-Jabbar was a better player than both of them.

I'm leaning LeBron too, but did you just put down Dwanye Wade, Chris Bosh, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving???  LeBron's doing it by himself THIS year, but he wasn't alone when he won those rings.

Not an actual money bet, but what better site than, you know, a place where people talk sports?? Or did anyways.
I'm not a LeBron fan, but guys at work say he wouldn't have cut it back in the day.. I said "bullshit".. LeBron would have dominated back in the day.
He would have learned to play more physical, and would crush. Maybe not Malone or Oakley, but he would physically dominate.

Charles Barkley even said he's Michael Jordan but bigger, faster, stronger..
Objectively speaking , LeBron has already outscored Jordan in playoff points. It's not even close at this stage.

I know this is a lazy radio station debate, but how can people not see what LeBron is doing??
In an era where there's serious International players and better training/nutrition, where everything is micro managed and computerized..
LeBron came in with unreal expectations and actually surpassed them.
And to top it off, he's got an Abe Lincoln beard thing going.

:lol. The next superteam. Forget the Eastern Conference.
If there ever was a beard war, Harden wins hands down.
I put Harden right up there with Kimbo Slice as brother with a badass beard.

I would take MJ motivated over LeBron.  I just believe he was more competitive.  Bron is bigger, stronger but Jordan was faster and a better shooter.  Now oddly I also think Bron because of his size would have been better in Jordan's era and Jordan better in this era.  The game when Jordan played was far more physical than it is today.  Also expansion has made the league softer and easier than it is today.  Bron has a lot of advantages that MJ never had and I honestly believe it is probably 8 straight if he didn't leave for baseball.

I also think his support cast is overrated and people tend to forget as Dog mentioned that Bron has only won when he has created dream teams.  It was Wade and Bosh in Miami.  He went to Love and Irving in Cleveland.  Jordan did carry Kerr and BJ Armstrong as well as Cartright, Will Perdue, and Luc Longley.

That said it is all subjective and in every single one of these arguments the current guy eventually earns the title.  We can still see him play and MJ fades in our memory just a bit more every year.
