Indeed it was. If so it's a sad day in the Jungle, not sure I buy it though.

I'm not buying it. It's part of his plan to sniper the competition. But I wish he really was retiring. His so-called smack is as lame as Joe Theismann's leg, and he's more full of crap than Najeh's laundry basket.

He may not call in Friday, but anyone who pays attention to Mike knows he's not retired.  Sounded more like an effort to build buzz around himself than an actual retirement call.

If it's a gimmick I'll be disappointed, it means less weak smack and drama if he's gone.

He's one of those rare callers like Neck in Richmond who for some reason Rome thinks is a big deal...two guys who beat their chests for no apparent reason.

Rome even ended the show saying tomorrow would be the day to talk about Mike......no thanks.

More callers like Brad and Vic (and Terrence!) and less like Mike and Jeff is a good thing.

Wtf are you talking about both Mike and Jeff are entertaining calls and make the show better. Jeff is mostly just funny with his schtick and over the top arrogance , but Mike is a legit great caller with both super good sports content and the ability to talk smack and make you laugh.

I agree with you about Brad, I think he's the best caller of all time. But Mike is miles ahead of Vic, and I like Vic, but he's nowhere near the caller Mike is

I have never been a huge fan of Mikey DLC, BUT I will give him his due.  He is unique, his smak is always strong, and he has been a consistent caller who I will stop what I am doing to listen to when he calls.

That said, there's zero chance that he is actually not calling in friday.
The one thing DLC loves more than anything is DLC.  He will not willingly stop looking for the attention he gets from the show. If he had stated some factual reason for retiring, even then I would question it.  But as it is he gave no reason.

The obvious play here is that he is building hype and he is hoping that other callers will re-write their script and turn the Smack Off into an all DLC topic, only to have Mike call in late and make their chatter all irrelevant.
I think it's actually a smart play, but I don't think it will work.
None of the major callers will fall for this Kabuki Theater.

Welcome Gino!

DLC would not have spent all year calling clones Periscopes if he was truly retiring from the show.
Obviously I'm not buying it, his odds remained unchanged.

Yes, shocking, isn't it?  :o

In other news, water is wet, grass is green, and Marcy and Peppermint Patty are lesbians.
