Drew Brees
« on: October 10, 2018, 09:13:08 am »
Now the NFL all-time passing yds leader.
Super Bowl champ.
Hall of Fame lock.

Where do you place him among the all-time great QB's?

Top 20?
Top10?
Top 5?

I have him sonewhere between 12 to 15.

Thoughts?

Tom Brady
Peyton Manning
Joe Montana
Brett Favre
Otto Graham
John Elway
Terry Bradshaw
Steve Young
Dan Marino
Johny Unitas
Roger Staubach
Drew Brees
Warren Moon.
Sammy Baugh
Y.A. Tittle
Dan Fouts
Joe Namath
Fran Tarkenton
Bart STarr
Aaron Rodgers

I'd say Top 15, but could wiggle him into the Top 10.   Not ready for Top 5 and not sure if he'll ever get there.

This becomes such a hard comparison because of how much football has changed over the years.  Hard to compare the QB's today but those that played earlier.  You almost have to ask what era of football you would be playing to really pick.

Dog's list is good but some other names I might consider.

Jim Kelly
Big Ben
Ken Stabler

You make a valid point, FP.

Dog, is that your 1-20 list?

Why is Rodgers so low?

No Troy Aikman?

I started off trying to rank them.  Then I went back and added names at the end of the list that I forgot about.  I forgot about Rodgers and threw him on at the end.  So it's not completely a ranked list, but more a list of 20 or so that should be considered in the top 20.

I created that list in 5 minutes with no real analysis...so take it for what its worth.

I can't argue with this list Dog, though I would drop Bradshaw a couple of spots in spite of the rings.
Quite an accomplishment by Brees, especially given his physical stature. Couldn't happen to a nicer dude.

Because watching them with your own eyes is a prerequisite to judge their greatness?
