RIP Free Agency
« on: February 12, 2019, 06:30:10 pm »
Wonder if Machado and Harper are going to enjoy having the 2019 season off since nobody wants to pay for 10 year deals

The Red Sox showed the world how its done by short changing JD Martinez Feb last year to a shorter/lesser deal than he was worth.  Now everybody will suffer haha

The problem isn't long term deals it's the 6 years of initial team control. Players generally hit their prime from 26-30 and wanting a 10 year deal at 28-30 scares teams off and rightfully so.

Expect a player strike soon. The current structure sucks.

Perhaps player salaries are hitting the top of the market.

Nah, they've expanded the amount of players per team towards the top of the market

No. The CBT threshold is a soft salary cap that seems to be working just fine. I like the "no cap" as it distinguishes baseball from the rest of the faggot leagues like the NBA and NFL.

Harper to the Phils.

Which will end up working out EXACTLY like Ryan Howard's deal.
