Canada repeatedly abused Indigenous peoples throughout its history.  A real disgrace.

They shoulda been tougher.

El_Bastrdo,most of us prefer "Black Canadians," as about three-quarters are relatively recent immigrants from the Caribbean and Africa. I'm a minority in a minority,as I am among the legacy blacks whose ancestors settled here (in my case, just south of the American border and throughout Southwestern Ontario, which begins roughly in London,Ont.,about 100 mi or 1.625 km. from Windsor) to escape slavery and in my city, which has about 10,000 blacks,or four-plus percent of the population,I am related to most of the legacy African Canadians.

Yesterday, the University of Wyoming finally formally apologized to the "Black 14," a group of African American football players who were dismissed from the team by their krakkker coach Lloyd Eaton for protesting the Cowboys' playing Brigham Young University,a Mormon school whose religion then prohibited black priests (and would until June 9,1978,the day after my father's 65th birthday)and racist slurs from BYU's all-white team. The upshot of this example of racism was that the Cowboys were bad for a quarter-century,as no black recruit would consider the U. Of Wyoming .

Wait...Wyoming has a football team?  :o
