As the oldest boy on this thread,I remember when the Steelers were the league's laughingstocks . In 1969,The Steelers' lone win was 16-13 over my Lions, and occurred only because the now-deceased Lions quarterback Bill Munson's would-have-been game winning touchdown pass for fullback Bill Triplett struck the crossbar (not until '74 would the goalposts be re-located to the back of the end zone from the end line ),rendering the toss incomplete, ending the game and giving the Pittsburghers their lone victory in the 14-game season of that era which would be lengthened to its present sixteen tilts in '78 .)
Nineteen-sixty-nine was Steelers Coach Chuck Noll's rookie campaign ,and after Bradshaw ,Swann,Stallworth,F. Harris,The Steel Curtain,Lambert,Shell,Blount, etc. were drafted, the rest became NFL Hall-Of Fame history .
