Unfortunately,"the Little General," Joe Morgan,77,passed away Saturday due to a severe nerve condition.
While the Hall--of-Fame second sacker's 268 homers,1,131 RBIs,689 SB (near 80% SB success rate) AND 1,865 walks are tremendous stats,my favourite Joe Morgan fact is that despite being my father's size (five-seven,155 or thereabouts),Morgan was the 1976 N.L. slugging average champ,the smallest man to win this quintessential big boys' baseball title. Also,Joe was THE LEADER of the Big Red Machine, and a quality dude.RIP,Joe,you'll be missed !!!!

Despite some ignorant racial blasts and slurs, this country provided and afforded the opportunity for their talent and hardwork to make a good living and achieve many accomplishments. 

I wasn't around for the Big Red Machine, but I always liked Morgan's announcing in the press box.
