"Manny being Manny"
« on: August 22, 2006, 07:38:05 am »
I'm not going to blame Ramirez for the performance of the Sox in this series against the Yankees.. He had a great series as we know.. However, I'm not the first one to bitch about his lack of effort at times.. In the field, on the basepaths, we've all seen it.. This might just take the cake though, and may also start to explain his "cramps" yesterday...

http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20060822_22sean.31fb41d.html

On Friday night, in the fifth inning of the disastrous day-nighter that would set the tone for the Lost Weekend, official scorer Joe Giuliotti determined that Manny Ramirez had reached on an error by Derek Jeter. Jeter had gone into the shortstop hole to backhand a hard grounder, only to have the ball glance off his glove and roll into shallow left.

On the play, teammate Mark Loretta, running from second base, was thrown out at home by Yankees left fielder Melky Cabrera.

Ramirez was enraged by the call, and was so angry about it the next day that he had to be talked into playing the Saturday afternoon game. On Sunday, Ramirez sought out an MLB official to try to get the call reversed.

Think about that: In the middle of the Sox' three most dispiriting losses of the season, suffered at the hands of the team's archrival, Ramirez sulked about losing credit for a meaningless single that didn't even involve an RBI.

I must have missed something too... Oh, and Lasorda, I bet you'd take Manny in a minute if he was offered to the Dodgers.

no, no we wouldn't.    Either hits to all feilds and what he lacks in power he makes up for in average.  In addition he pretty cheap and can actually make plays in the outfield.   Keep in mind he might even give fred sanchez a chase for hte batting title this year and may take rookie of the year.

milton was off of his prozac and was starting race wars in the dugout and spiking brad penny who was breaking up the fight.   milton is having a much better time playing for billy bean-fag

Could be the true meaning of a win win for both teams

joeyd, a little worried that the padres suck and the dodgers still lose to them.   sd has owned la since 1960s.   some weird shit if you look at the all time wins and losses.  still think that with maddux, penny, and lowe we have a decent rotation for the post season; watch out metfan (are there really met fans?)

I know a Dodger fan isn't calling Mets fans fair-weathered.  LA sports fans are the poster children of the bandwagon fan.

What do I have to be worried about?? The Mets are playing well and have a couple young arms coming back in the next week.. Heading into the playoffs, here's to hoping that Pedro and Glavine are strong as well.. On the other hand, whether the Dodgers have a decent rotation for the post season or not, they still have to get there.. Also, what's with this "we" stuff??  :uhh

There are plenty of Mets fans.. They wouldn't have a sports network and a 50k seat stadium (with plans to build a new one) if there weren't.. I've been a fan for many years, and plan to be a fan for many more..
